There is now a pathway named after 1982 Formula 1 world champion Keijo “Keke” Rosberg in Turku. Not a road but a pathway. Turku is a Finnish city where Keke has never lived but there was a racing track in Turku where Keke did compete at some point.

Amusingly the city official don’t have slightest idea who has named the pathway or installed the sign. They are now inquiring this through Instagram.

Love that the engraving included the Marlboro logo... as if any public entity would ever allow that.

It’s quite interesting that the Marlboro is visible so well. It’s probably not a mistake. The maker might be challenging the tobacco ad limitations.

I think that Marlboro was some kind of a main sponsor in 1982 and all drivers had those in their overalls (but only some had in their cars).

No, not all the drivers, although quite a few of them: Ferrari’s, Alfa Romeo’s and, obviously, McLaren’s. Some others may have had private sponsorship from Marlboro too.

Remember John Player Special (cigarettes) was the main sponsor of Team Lotus, for example. Elio de Angelis or Mansell wearing Marlboro patches at the same time they were driving JPS-liveried cars? I don’t think so.

Regarding the plaque, I imagine the local authorities are not amused...

It seems Keke is a great guy, by the way, or so I’ve heard.
